The Springfield Roadrunners U13 Boys travel team clinched a berth for flight 2 for the Fall 2009 season with a victory over the Sparta Revolution by a score of 3-1 this past Saturday.
Scoring for the Roadrunners (6-1-2), were Matt Pacheco (2) & Asmar Johnson all within the first 10 minutes of the match. The loan Sparta goal was scored on a controversial penalty shot late in the second half.
On Sunday Springfield tied first place Pequannock Panthers 2-2. Goals were scored by Pacheco & Eric Pereira, his first tally of the season. Pequannock scored with 2 minutes left in the match. The Roadrunners have put the only blemishes on the Panthers record (6-1-1) with the tie and a previous victory.
Also playing well for Springfield were Tyler Citrin, Johnny Chumbiauca, Roy Bahar, Danny Micolta, Stephano Gonzaga, Arrington Joyner-Corniffe, Patrick Zahn, Kevin Shulca, Kevin Chabla, Jason Barreira, Nile Gregory, Austin Lopes, Andrew Maldenado & Noah Guber.
The Roadrunners conclude their Spring 2009 campaign on the road versus the Summit Swampdragons @ Glenside Field @ 4:15 PM on Sunday June 21st. A victory by Springfield combined with a loss by Pequannock in either of their last 2 games will clinch a second consecutive division title.
