The Springfield Roadrunners U14 Boys’ travel team was victorious in their finale of the Westfield’s Soccer Palace Winter League over the previously unbeaten Ironbound Vipers MAPS team by a score of (2-0) this past Saturday at the Westfield Armory.
Austin Lopes opened the scoring with a 30 foot blast from the right side (10) minutes into the match. Matt Kerr delivered the second goal late in the contest. Only (8) shots were allowed by Springfield’s infamous defense comprising of Kevin Chabla, Noah Guber, Tyler Citrin, & Chris Rodriguez. The game was a rematch from a (0-0) tie earlier in the season. The Ironbound’s only loss & tie in the league were both handled by Springfield.
The Roadrunners finish the Winter League with a record of (6) Wins, (2) ties, & (0) losses! They allowed only a paltry (3) goals over their last (7) games. Also playing well throughout the season were Ethan Siegel, Jason Barreira, Kevin Casteblanco, Matt Pacheco & Yosef Salomon.
The Roadrunners will start there regular MCYSA season on Sunday, April 11th, time & location TBA…
