With the road victory, the Roadrunners took possession of first place in MCYSA’s U13 Boys’ flight 4 division. The Roadrunners dominated throughout the match as they took an amazing (29) shots on goals, only allowing (2) to Pequannock. The scoring output in the first half was attributed to Asmar Johnson’s (2) goals, the first assisted by Kevin Casteblanco leading Springfield to a (2-1) halftime lead.
The Wild Panthers answered back with an equalizer early in the second half. Not to be outdone, Andrew Maldonado took charge with a hat trick (3 goals). Completing the scoring output was newcomer Nile Gregory’s first goal as a Roadrunner. Midfielders Noah Guber, Tristen Fekete, Austin Lopes, & Tyler Citrin continuously set up the offence’s multiple scoring opportunities. Giving Springfield the opportunity for all their shots on goal was the defense tandem of Patrick Zahn, Arrington Joyner-Corniffe, Stephano Gonzaga, & Kevin Shulca who constantly kept the ball out of the Pequannock zone. Also playing well for the Roadrunners were Eric Pereira, Johnny Chumbiauca, & Danny Micolta. Springfield returns home @ Dayton High School on Sunday @ 1:00 to face arch rivals, the Madison Warriors. The Springfield Roadrunners kept their perfect record intact as they bested the previously undefeated Pequannock Wild Panthers by a score of (6-2).
